Bechet is a small town in Dolj County, Oltenia, Romania, with a population of about 4,300. It sits on the left bank of the Danube River, opposite the Bulgarian city of Oryahovo. Historically a ferry crossing point to Bulgaria, Bechet is a quiet port town known for its riverside setting and the tallest electricity pylon in Romania — a 126.5 m structure built in 1967 as part of a now-dismantled power line crossing to Bulgaria.
