Nasaud

Bistrița-Năsăud, Romania

Why visit Nasaud?

Nasaud is a town in Bistrița-Năsăud County, Transylvania, Romania, on the right bank of the Someșul Mare river. A former Habsburg border town, it was known for its Imperial border regiments and good schools. In 1848, Austrian commander Karl von Urban summoned leaders here to resist the Hungarian Revolution. The town still has late 18th- and early 19th-century buildings, including the former military headquarters (now a museum).
