Arad County is in western Romania, bordering Hungary. The landscape combines the fertile Criș Plain with the Zarand Mountains and Mureș River valley. The county is an agricultural heartland with sunflower fields, orchards, and vineyards.
Arad has a strong Central European character, shaped by its position on the Hungarian border. The capital city of Arad is a Belle Époque gem with Austria-Hungary-era architecture, while the surrounding countryside features wine villages, thermal springs, and the rolling hills of the Criș region.
When to Visit
Late spring through early autumn (April-October) is ideal. Summers are warm (25-30°C) and sunny, while winters are cold but milder than in eastern Romania.
