Birzeit is a Palestinian town in the Ramallah Governorate, located 7 km north of Ramallah. It is best known as the home of Birzeit University, one of the most prestigious universities in the Arab world. The town has a historic old quarter with restored Ottoman-era stone buildings, including the Birzeit Museum and the town's famous old mill. The population is mixed Christian and Muslim. The climate is Mediterranean: hot, dry summers and cool, rainy winters. Spring and autumn are the best times to visit.

Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) is 50 km southwest.
By Car / Road
Birzeit is 7 km north of Ramallah, about 15 minutes by car. Shared taxis from Ramallah run every 10 minutes (₪3).
The old town is walkable. The university campus is a 15-minute walk from the centre.
