Sa'ir is a Palestinian village in the Hebron Governorate, located 6 km northeast of Hebron city centre. It is an agricultural community with a population of around 15,000, predominantly Muslim, known for its olive groves and sheep farming. The village has a long history, with archaeological remains from the Roman and Byzantine periods. Its setting in the hills northeast of Hebron offers views of the Judean Desert. The climate is Mediterranean: hot, dry summers and cool, rainy winters. Spring is the best time to visit. The village centre is compact and walkable.

How do you get there?

By Plane

Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) is 65 km northwest. A taxi costs ₪350–450. Budget: sherut to Jerusalem (₪45), bus to Bethlehem (₪15), then shared taxi via Hebron (₪8).

By Car / Road

Sa'ir is 6 km northeast of Hebron, about 12 minutes by car via the local road from Halhul. From Bethlehem, it is 12 km south (20 min). Shared taxis from Hebron run to Sa'ir regularly.

The village is walkable. The main street is the commercial centre.

  • Sa'ir olive groves — Ancient olive trees surround the village, with some trees hundreds of years old.

  • Sa'ir Mosque — The main mosque, a simple stone building.

  • Roman-era ruins — Remains of an ancient settlement, including cisterns and building foundations, on the village outskirts.
