Wadi Bani Khalid
Shamāl ash Sharqīyah, Oman
Why visit Wadi Bani Khalid?
Wadi Bani Khalid is one of the most famous and accessible wadis in Oman, located in the Shamal ash Sharqiyah region at the edge of the Wahiba Sands. Unlike many Omani wadis that flow only after rains, Wadi Bani Khalid has permanent turquoise pools fed by underground springs, making it a year-round swimming destination. The wadi is set in a dramatic canyon of weathered rock and is surrounded by date plantations.
The best time to visit is October to March when temperatures are pleasant. Summer visits are still possible as the pools offer relief from the heat. The wadi can get busy on weekends and public holidays.
