Geilo is one of Norway's premier winter sports destinations, with excellent skiing and snowboarding terrain for all skill levels. The nearest airport to Geilo is Vy train from Oslo or Bergen (3–3.5 hr).

By Car / Road

Geilo is accessible by road. Buses connect to nearby cities and towns. Local roads are well-maintained but may be narrow in rural areas. Driving offers the most flexibility for exploring the surrounding region.

The town centre is compact and walkable. Local buses cover the wider area. Taxis are available through Norgestaxi or local taxi companies. For exploring the surrounding region, a rental car is recommended.

Geilo has a historic centre with traditional architecture, a parish church, and several notable historic buildings reflecting the local heritage.

Visitors can explore the old town on foot, hike in the surrounding countryside, and attend local festivals and cultural events throughout the year.
