The nearest airport to Leirvik is Ferry from Bergen to Leirvik (1.5 hr). Fast boat available.

By Car / Road

Leirvik is accessible by road. Buses connect to nearby cities and towns. Local roads are well-maintained but may be narrow in rural areas. Driving offers the most flexibility for exploring the surrounding region.

The town centre is compact and walkable. Local buses cover the wider area. Taxis are available through Norgestaxi or local taxi companies. For exploring the surrounding region, a rental car is recommended.

Permanent agricultural, forestry and fishery history exhibitions, exhibition of life in prehistoric times, and a sculpture collection. Sunnhordlandstunet farm cluster is a few minutes’ walk up the hill from the centre of Leirvik, or by car from Sæ. It consists of eleven old buildings in Vidsteensparken park. The farm cluster has an ancient history exhibition, agriculture and fisheries exhibition, and an old general store selling old-fashioned confectionery.

Hystadmarkjo

( North of Leirvik town centre ).

A nature reserve near Leirvik with a 2-km-long hiking path. The area has many cultural and historic monuments, including a cholera graveyard from the 19th century and burial mounds from the Bronze Age. Bathing possibilities.
