How do you get there?

By Plane

The nearest airport to Oppdal is Vy train from TRD to Oppdal (1.5 hr, 290 kr).

By Car / Road

Oppdal is accessible by road. Buses connect to nearby cities and towns. Local roads are well-maintained but may be narrow in rural areas. Driving offers the most flexibility for exploring the surrounding region.

The town centre is compact and walkable. Local buses cover the wider area. Taxis are available through Norgestaxi or local taxi companies. For exploring the surrounding region, a rental car is recommended.

The museum has 30 buildings that show what the farm environment was like from the end of the 16th century to the middle of the 20th century. You can see a farmhouse, barn, storage cage, sauna, smithy and hunting lodge. The museum also contains a ski museum, school museum, telemuseum and a collection of hunting and fishing gear.

One of Norway's major alpine ski resorts with 56 km of pistes. Frequently listed among top 5 or top 10 resorts in Norway. 46 slopes, 3 chair lifts, 14 T-lifts, 1 band lift. There is a ski bus going. The system can also reached at Hovden ski lift, 900-meter walking distance from the city centre, no parking but suitable for visitors without a car.   ( updated Aug 2015 )
