Otjozondjupa

Otjozondjupa is a region in north-central Namibia, characterised by mixed farmland, bushveld, and the dramatic Waterberg Plateau. The region is named after the Otjozondjupa mountains near Otjiwarongo. It is a key agricultural region known for cattle farming and game ranching. The Waterberg Plateau Park is a significant conservation area with endangered species.

The dry winter months (May to October) are best for wildlife viewing. Summer (November to April) is hot with occasional thunderstorms.

Otjiwarongo is at the junction of the B1 and B8 highways with good paved roads. The C22 connects to Grootfontein. A 4x4 is useful for Khaudum National Park.

Namibian beef from the region's cattle farms is excellent. Game meat is widely available.

The Herero people are prominent in the region, known for their distinctive Victorian-style dresses. The Waterberg has historical significance from the Herero-German war.
