Windhoek

Khomas, Namibia

Why visit Windhoek?

Windhoek is the capital and largest city of Namibia, with a population of approximately 430,000. Nestled in a valley surrounded by the Khomas Highland mountains, the city blends German colonial heritage with modern African urbanity. Founded in 1890 by German colonists, Windhoek features distinctive German Art Nouveau buildings including the Christuskirche, the Tintenpalast (Parliament), and the Alte Feste fortress. The city is clean, safe, and well-organised, serving as the starting point for most Namibian itineraries.
