Khomas

Khomas is the central region of Namibia, surrounding the capital city Windhoek. The region is named after the Khomas Highlands, a mountainous area that forms the watershed between the Atlantic Ocean and the interior. As the political, economic, and cultural heart of Namibia, Khomas is the most urbanised region. Windhoek, with its German colonial architecture set against a backdrop of mountains, is the starting point for most travellers' Namibian adventures.

Windhoek can be visited year-round. The winter months (May to October) offer warm days and cool, clear nights. Summer (November to April) brings occasional afternoon thunderstorms.

Windhoek International Airport (WDH IATA) connects to major international and regional destinations. The B1 and B2 highways radiate from Windhoek in good paved condition. Taxis and rental cars are widely available.
