Kyainseikgyi is the seat of Kyain Seikgyi Township, the fourth-largest township in Kayin State, in the state's southern reaches near the Thai border. It is a rural area of farmland and forests, drained by the Zami, Winyaw, and Haungtharaw rivers. The area receives no tourism.
The climate is tropical monsoon, with the best weather from November to February.
