Ada Bojana

Ada Bojana is a unique triangular river island located in the southernmost corner of Montenegro, created by a delta of the Bojana River at the border with Albania. The island is bordered by two branches of the river and the Adriatic Sea. Ada Bojana is world-famous for its naturist (nudist) resort, which was established in 1973. It is a paradise of untouched nature, famous for its sandy beach, kitesurfing, and iconic wooden seafood restaurants built on stilts over the river.

Ada Bojana is located about 15 km south of Ulcinj. It is reached via a bridge over the right branch of the Bojana River. Visitors arrive by car, taxi, or by taking a local minibus from Ulcinj during the summer season.

The island and the resort area are easily explored on foot. The sandy beach stretches for 3 km and is perfect for walking. Bicycles are also popular for getting around the flat terrain.

The main sight is the unique Bojana River delta, where the fresh river water meets the salty Adriatic Sea. The iconic wooden stilt houses (sojenice) lining the riverbanks are a key architectural and cultural feature of the area.

Enjoy the beautiful 3-km sandy beach. Ada Bojana is one of the premier kitesurfing and windsurfing destinations in the Adriatic, with several schools operating on the beach. Dine at the famous river restaurants and enjoy horseback riding along the shore.

Ada Bojana is legendary for its seafood restaurants built on stilts over the Bojana River. They serve exceptionally fresh fish caught directly from the river using traditional fish nets (kalimere), along with local wines.

Relaxed beach bars and riverside cafes serve cold drinks, cocktails, and beer. The atmosphere is laid-back and alternative, with beautiful sunset views over the river and sea.

Accommodation includes the official FKK Ada Bojana naturist resort, alongside numerous private wooden cottages (sojenice) and holiday villas available for rent along the riverbanks.

There are no major shops on the island, only basic convenience stalls within the resort. For shopping, visitors head to the nearby village of Donji Štoj or to Ulcinj.

From Ada Bojana, you can travel north to the sandy stretch of Velika Plaža, visit the historic city of Ulcinj (15 km away), or explore the nearby Albanian border.
