Żebbuġ Malta, also known as Città Rohan, is one of the oldest and most historic cities in Malta, located in the Western Region of the main island. The city's name, meaning "olives" in Maltese, reflects the vast olive groves that once covered the area. In 1777, the city was elevated to the status of Città Rohan by Grand Master Emmanuel de Rohan-Polduc, a milestone commemorated by the monumental Rohan Arch at the entrance to the town.

Żebbuġ is renowned for its grand architecture, narrow winding alleys, and wealthy historical heritage. During the era of the Knights of St. John, it was home to many influential merchants and corsairs. Today, it remains a vibrant cultural hub, boasting magnificent palazzos, historic chapels, and a lively community centered around its magnificent parish church and traditional band clubs.

The best time to visit Żebbuġ is during the spring months (April to June) when the weather is ideal for exploring the historic streets and countryside, and during the autumn months (September to October).

The absolute highlight of the year is the Feast of St. Philip of Agira, celebrated on the second Sunday of June. This is one of Malta's most famous and extravagant summer feasts, featuring incredible street decorations, competitive band marches, a grand procession with a historic silver statue, and world-class fireworks. Visiting during this time offers a thrilling immersion into Maltese culture.

Żebbuġ is centrally located and well-served by Malta's public transport network. Several bus routes, including routes 61, 62, and 209, connect the city directly to Valletta, Qormi, and the Mater Dei Hospital. The city is also easily accessible by car, situated just off the main arterial roads of the island.

The historic core of Żebbuġ is a maze of narrow streets and is best explored on foot. Walking allows visitors to appreciate the architectural details of the historic townhouses, niches, and arches. For exploring the surrounding rural areas or neighboring towns, local taxis or renting a car are convenient options.

The Feast of St. Philip of Agira in June is the primary cultural event, famous for the procession of the life-sized silver statue of the saint, which was crafted in 1864 and is considered a masterpiece of Maltese silversmithing. The city also celebrates the Feast of St. Joseph in July.
