Qrendi is a tranquil, traditional village nestled in the southwestern part of Malta. Known for its slow pace of life and rural charm, Qrendi is of immense historical and archaeological significance, as its boundaries contain some of the oldest freestanding stone structures on Earth. The village itself is characterized by narrow, winding streets, traditional limestone houses with decorated facades, and a peaceful central square dominated by the parish church.
Beyond the village core, Qrendi's territory extends to a dramatic coastline overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. This coastal area is home to rugged cliffs, deep valleys, and remarkable geological formations. It is a destination that seamlessly combines ancient human history with striking natural wonders, making it a must-visit for travelers exploring the southern region of Malta.
When to Visit
The best time to visit Qrendi is during the spring (March to May), when the weather is ideal for hiking along the cliffs and the surrounding countryside is vibrant with green fields and wildflowers. The village celebrates two major feasts in August: the feast of the Assumption of Our Lady (Santa Marija) on August 15, and the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes later in the month, both featuring impressive pyrotechnic displays.
