Andohahela National Park is in the Toliara Province of Madagascar. It is the southernmost of the six national parks making up the UNESCO World Heritage site Rainforests of the Atsinanana. The park protects a unique transition zone where the humid forests of the east meet the spiny forests of the south.

Flora and fauna

The national park hosts 15 lemur species, including the Ring-tailed Lemur and Verreaux's Sifaka, along with numerous endemic birds, reptiles, and amphibians.

How do you get there?

By Plane

The closest airport is in Tolagnaro/Fort Dauphin (FTU IATA). Most visitors fly in and continue by road.

By Car / Road

The park is accessible from Tolagnaro/Fort Dauphin by road. Road conditions are variable; a 4x4 is recommended.

The park must be explored on foot with a local guide. Trails range from short walks to full-day hikes. Hiring a guide is mandatory.

Meals are provided at park lodges or campsites. Pack food and water for day hikes as there are no facilities inside the park.

Basic accommodation may be available near the park entrance. Most visitors base themselves in Fort Dauphin and visit the park on day trips.

Fees and permits

1 day: 25,000 Ar per person, 2 days: 37,000 Ar, 3 days: 40,000 Ar, 4 days: 50,000 Ar. Guide fees are extra.

Bring all supplies from Fort Dauphin or the nearest town before entering the park.
