Luxembourg is a grand duchy at the heart of Western Europe, known for its dramatic clifftop capital, deep forested gorges, and status as a global financial centre. Despite its small size (2,586 km²), it offers a unique blend of Germanic and Romance cultures — Luxembourgish, French, and German are all official languages. The Müllerthal region ("Little Switzerland") and the wine-growing Moselle valley add natural and gastronomic appeal. The country suits travellers seeking a compact, upscale destination with excellent infrastructure and a multilingual atmosphere.
Geography & Climate
The northern Oesling region is a densely forested extension of the Ardennes, with deep river-cut valleys. The southern Gutland is a fertile, rolling landscape of farmland and woodland. The Moselle River forms the eastern border with Germany, producing crisp white wines. The climate is temperate oceanic: mild winters (0–5°C) and warm summers (17–24°C).
