Mişrātah is a coastal popularate in northwestern Libya, centred on the city of Misrata, the country's third-largest city and a major industrial and commercial hub. The district extends along the Mediterranean coast and into the semi-arid interior. Misrata is historically a city with strong Turkish-origin community traditions, rebuilt after the devastation of the 2011 civil war, and has emerged as a dynamic economic centre. The district includes the inland towns of Bani Walid and Tawergha, the latter largely abandoned after the 2011 conflict. The coastal areas have sandy beaches and agricultural land, while the interior is arid steppe. The climate is Mediterranean on the coast, with hot summers and mild winters.
When is the best time to visit?
October to April is best. Summer is hot (30–35°C) but the sea breeze helps.
