Why visit?

Bong County is a central Liberian county named after Mount Bong, located in the country's interior highlands. The county is known for the Bong Mines — a historic iron-ore mining complex that was one of Liberia's most important industrial operations before the civil wars. The capital Gbarnga is a key transport hub on the road connecting Monrovia to Guinea. Bong County is also home to Cuttington University, one of Liberia's oldest private universities. The landscape is a mix of rolling hills, tropical forest, and agricultural land, with rubber and cassava as key crops.

When is the best time to visit?

The dry season (November–April) is the best time. The rainy season (May–October) can make roads difficult.

Tell us your dates and we'll shape a Bong route around them.
