Mafeteng

Mafeteng District is located in southwestern Lesotho, bordering South Africa's Free State province. The district capital, Mafeteng, is a busy commercial town on the main road connecting Maseru to the southern districts. The district is primarily agricultural, with maize, wheat, and livestock farming.

Mafeteng is one of the more densely populated districts in Lesotho's lowland belt. It offers an authentic look at Basotho rural life and serves as a transit point for travellers heading south.

The dry winter months from May to September are ideal. Summer (November to February) is hot with afternoon thunderstorms.

The A2 highway runs through Mafeteng, connecting it to Maseru in the north and Mohale's Hoek in the south. The road is paved. Minibus taxis are the main form of public transport.
