Mapoteng is a small village in the highlands of Berea District, Lesotho. It is a rural settlement surrounded by mountain scenery, with traditional Basotho village life centred on livestock and subsistence farming. The area is quiet and remote, with limited services. The landscape is characterised by rolling hills and mountain pastures.

The climate is cool due to elevation. Winters can be cold with frost, while summers are mild with occasional thunderstorms. The best time to visit is during the dry winter months.

There is no railway in this area.

By Car / Road

Mapoteng is accessible by road from Teyateyaneng via a winding mountain road. A 4WD vehicle may be useful in the rainy season. The drive takes about 30-40 minutes from Teyateyaneng.

The village is small and walkable.
