Engineer

Nyandarua, Kenya

Why visit Engineer?

Engineer is a small town and administrative ward in Kinangop constituency, Nyandarua County, on the eastern slopes of the Aberdare Ranges roughly 80 km northwest of Nairobi. Its name recalls its colonial-era role as a base for railway engineers during construction of the Kenya-Uganda railway; the modern town grew out of a garage established there in 1945. It sits on the scenic, lightly trafficked road that runs along the Aberdares through Njabini, Engineer, Ndunyu Njeru, and Miharati, and is a farming locality now seeing renewed development through an affordable-housing programme.
