Tinderet

Nandi, Kenya

Why visit Tinderet?

Tinderet is a highland area straddling Nandi and Kericho counties, named for the Tinderet Mountain Complex, whose peaks rise to about 2,468 m. The 246 km² Tinderet Forest Reserve, bordered by tea plantations, is a recognised biodiversity hotspot and water catchment area, home to forest birds, monkeys, and reptile and amphibian species found nowhere else in the region. It is a destination for hiking and birdwatching rather than a town in its own right — visitor infrastructure is minimal.
