Busia County lies in western Kenya along the Uganda border, straddling the equator. It is a small but densely populated county, dominated by the Lake Victoria basin in the south and the Nzoia River plains in the north. Agriculture is the mainstay: sugarcane, maize, and cassava are widely grown, and fishing is important in the lakeside areas. The county capital, Busia town, is a major border crossing between Kenya and Uganda, with a bustling cross-border market. The county is the homeland of the Samia and Luhya communities and offers a blend of lakeside scenery, border-town energy, and rural landscapes.
When to Visit
The dry months of December–March and June–September offer the best road conditions. April–June and October–November are wet, but the landscape is at its greenest and Lake Victoria views are dramatic.

WhatsAppGetting Around
The main A104 highway runs through Busia town at the border. Matatus and buses connect all major towns. Local roads to lakeside areas like Port Victoria and Funyula are paved in parts; some sections become muddy in the wet season.
