Khomein (خمین) is a city in southern Markazī Province, about 60 km south of Arak. It is historically significant as the birthplace of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution. The city is also known for its carpet weaving and agriculture, particularly grapes and grains.

Khomein has a semi-arid climate with hot summers and cold winters.

By Plane

Arak Airport (IAK) is about 70 km north. Isfahan Airport (IFN) is about 200 km southeast.

By Car / Road

Khomein is on the road between Arak and Aligudarz. Regular bus services connect it to Arak and other regional centres.
