Ardal

Ardal is a city in north-central Chahar Mahal va Bakhtiari Province, situated in a mountain valley between Shahrekord and Lordegan at approximately 2,000 m elevation. The area is home to Bakhtiari nomads who migrate between the summer pastures (sardsir) in the Zagros highlands and winter lowlands. The town has a quiet rural character and is surrounded by scenic valleys and oak-covered slopes.

By Bus

Buses from Shahrekord (40 km north, 1 hr) and Lordegan (40 km south, 1 hr) serve Ardal. Services are moderately frequent.

By Car

The road connecting Shahrekord and Lordegan passes through Ardal. The drive from Shahrekord takes about 1 hour through mountain scenery.

Ardal is small and easily covered on foot.

• Ardal Bazaar: A small market with local produce, Bakhtiari handicrafts, and supplies for nomadic families.

• Ardal Valley: The surrounding valley offers pleasant walking with views of the Zagros peaks.

• Bakhtiari Nomadic Routes: In spring and autumn, Bakhtiari nomads pass through the valley on their seasonal migration (kuch) — a spectacular cultural sight.

• Walk the valley trails.

• If visiting in spring (April–May) or autumn (September–October), witness Bakhtiari nomadic migration.

• Visit nearby villages to see traditional Bakhtiari house architecture.

Simple Bakhtiari food at the town's small eateries. Expect grilled lamb, flatbread, yogurt, and herb dishes.

Tea is the staple. Doogh and fresh spring water.
