Fardis
Alborz, Iran
Why visit Fardis?
Fardis (فردیس) is a major urban center in Alborz Province, situated immediately southeast of Karaj and roughly 35 kilometers west of Tehran. Originally developed as a planned residential expansion of Karaj, it was administered as municipal districts 3 and 10 of Karaj before becoming the seat of an independent county. The city forms part of the continuous urban corridor connecting Tehran with the Alborz provincial capital.
The layout of Fardis centers along Shohada Boulevard (widely called Fardis Main Street), structured around five consecutive traffic roundabouts known as the First through Fifth Squares (Falakeh Aval to Falakeh Panjom). This central strip functions as the commercial heart of the city, lined with multi-story shopping passages, clothing retailers, confectionery shops, and lively food stalls that stay active late into the evening.
For travelers, Fardis serves primarily as a practical base between Tehran and Karaj, offering easy access to nearby agricultural villages such as Farrokhabad-Ziba Dasht and the recreational routes of the southern Alborz Mountains. The local climate is semi-arid, featuring hot, dry summers and crisp, cold winters with sparse precipitation.
