The most practical way to reach Juticalpa is by road. Regular bus and colectivo (shared van) services connect it with neighbouring towns and the departmental capital. Taxis and mototaxis may also be available from nearby transport hubs. The road network in Olancho department provides access to most towns.
Juticalpa is compact enough to explore on foot, with most points of interest within walking distance of the town centre. Mototaxis and tuk-tuks are available for trips to outlying areas or neighbouring villages. Local transport options are affordable and widely used by residents.

The City Hall, the Cathedral, the House of Culture, the "Rosa Luisa H. de Ochoa" School are monuments of the history of Juticalpa and the department of Olancho.
Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepción is the cathedral episcopal see of the suffragan Roman Catholic Diocese of Juticalpa.

Juticalpa's fair is celebrated on 8–14 December and is dedicated to "The Virgin of Concepción". During this period several activities take place across the city's main streets, at the Parque Central and at the Asociación de Ganaderos y Agricultores de Olancho (AGAO).
