Mamou

Mamou is a region in central Guinea, at the southern edge of the Fouta Djallon plateau. The capital is Mamou town. The region is known for its mountainous landscapes and the village of Dalaba, a historic hill station with colonial-era buildings. The area is agricultural, with rice, coffee, and fruit production.

November to April is the best time. May to October is rainy, with lush vegetation.

The main highway from Conakry to Kankan passes through Mamou. Bush taxis and minibuses are the main transport. Roads to Dalaba and Pita are paved but winding.
