Kindia

Kindia is a region in western Guinea, stretching from the outskirts of Conakry inland to the foothills of the Fouta Djallon. The capital is Kindia town. The region is agricultural, known for pineapples, bananas, coffee, and rice. The Mount Gangan massif near Kindia town offers hiking and views of the surrounding landscape.

November to April is the dry season. May to October is rainy, with lush green landscapes but difficult road conditions.

The main highway from Conakry to Kankan runs through Kindia. Bush taxis and minibuses are the primary transport. Roads within the region are variable.

Rice is the staple, served with peanut sauce (mafe), palm butter sauce (khati), or fish. Local pineapples are excellent. Street food is common in Kindia and Coyah.

The Susu and Peul are the main ethnic groups. The Kindia pineapple festival celebrates the region's most famous product.
