Carriacou is the largest of Grenada's Southern Grenadine Islands and the second-largest island in the nation. Known as the 'Land of Reefs', it is famous for its traditional boat-building heritage, vibrant Carriacou Carnival (in February), and excellent snorkeling and diving on pristine coral reefs.
Carriacou is located in Southern Grenadine Islands, Grenada. The area has a tropical maritime climate with a dry season from January to May and a wet season from June to December. Hurricane season runs from June to November, with the highest risk in August and October.
The area is known for largest Grenadine island, Carriacou Carnival, snorkeling/diving. Like much of Grenada, the local economy is supported by agriculture (spices, cocoa, nutmeg) and increasingly by tourism.

By Plane
The nearest airport is Lauriston Airport (CRU) on Carriacou, with small regional flights from Grenada's Maurice Bishop International Airport (GND) and from Barbados. From Carriacou, ferries and small boats connect to the other islands.
By Car / Road
Carriacou and Petite Martinique are accessible by ferry from St George's or Grenville on Grenada's main island. The ferry ride from St George's to Hillsborough takes approximately 90 minutes. Water taxis also operate between the islands.
On Carriacou, getting around is mainly by taxi, rental car, or on foot for shorter distances. Water taxis connect different points around the island and between Carriacou and Petite Martinique. The islands are small enough that many destinations are walkable from each other.
