Why visit Keramoti?
Keramoti (Κεραμωτή) is a small coastal village in the Kavala regional unit, best known as the main ferry port for the island of Thasos. Located on a narrow spit of land between the Nestos River Delta and the Aegean Sea, Keramoti enjoys a stunning natural setting with a long, wide sandy beach that is one of the finest on the mainland coast of northern Greece. The village is small — a few streets of houses, tavernas, and holiday apartments — but its beach, proximity to the Nestos Delta, and its role as the Thasos ferry hub make it a popular summer destination.
The atmosphere in Keramoti is relaxed and family-friendly. The beach is lined with umbrellas and sunbeds in summer, and the waterfront promenade has a lively selection of seafood tavernas and cafés. Behind the village, the Nestos Delta is a haven for birdwatchers and nature lovers. The best time to visit is May to September, with July and August being the busiest.
