Bansang

Central River, Gambia

Why visit Bansang?

Bansang is a town on the south bank of the Gambia River in Central River Region. It is home to Bansang Hospital, built by the British in 1938 and, for decades, the only government hospital serving Gambia's interior regions — it remains the main referral hospital for the Central and Upper River Regions, treating malnutrition, malaria, pneumonia, and other conditions for a large catchment area that includes patients travelling from Senegal and Guinea-Bissau.
