Torva
Valgamaa, Estonia
Why visit Torva?
Tõrva (population ~2,700) is a small resort town in Valga County (Valgamaa) in southern Estonia, historically recognized as part of the Mulgimaa cultural region. Built around four lakes—Vanamõisa, Riiska, Veskijärv, and Tikste—and bisected by the Õhne River, it developed as a summer retreat in the 1920s and 1930s. The town centre was revitalized around a central square featuring wooden pine installations along the riverbank, serving as a hub for exploring the pine forests, sandstone caves, and manor ruins of southern Valgamaa.
