Liberia

Guanacaste, Costa Rica

Why visit Liberia?

Liberia is the capital of Guanacaste province and known as "La Ciudad Blanca" (The White City) for its whitewashed colonial buildings. It serves as the main gateway to Costa Rica's northwest Pacific coast and the Guanacaste beaches. The city has a population of around 50,000 and retains a relaxed, provincial atmosphere with a central plaza, colonial church, and traditional Costa Rican culture. Liberia is increasingly important as a tourism hub thanks to the nearby Daniel Oduber International Airport.
