Boundji

Boundji is a small town on the RN2 highway in central Cuvette department, approximately 120 km south of Owando and 40 km north of Oyo. It is a roadside market centre serving the surrounding agricultural region, with a small market, basic shops, and a handful of eateries lining the highway. The landscape around the town is a mix of farmland, secondary forest, and patches of savanna.

The climate is tropical with a dry season (June–September) and a wet season (October–May). Temperatures range from 24°C to 32°C (75–90°F).

Boundji is on the paved RN2 highway, 120 km south of Owando (2.5 hours) and 40 km north of Oyo (45 minutes). Shared taxis and buses on the Brazzaville–Owando route pass through regularly.

The town is compact and walkable, oriented along the main highway.

• Small market — The market sells fresh produce and household basics.

• Rest stop — Boundji is a convenient place to stretch your legs, buy refreshments, and observe highway life on the journey between Owando and Brazzaville.

• Market visit — Browse the small market for local produce.

Maquis along the highway serve pondu, rice, grilled fish, and fried plantains for XAF 1,000–2,500.

Roadside bars sell Primus beer and soft drinks. Bottled water is available.

Basic rooms may be available above some of the maquis along the highway for XAF 5,000–8,000 per night. For better options, continue to Oyo (40 km south) or Owando (120 km north).

The market offers fresh fruit, vegetables, dried fish, and household essentials.
