Mwaro

Mwaro is a province in central Burundi, Burundi. The provincial capital, also called Mwaro, sits on the central plateau at roughly 1,700 m elevation. The landscape is characterised by rolling hills, valleys, and agricultural terraces.

For travellers, Mwaro offers access to its scenic highland landscape. The province is off the main tourist circuit, rewarding those who venture here with authentic rural experiences.

The dry season from June to August is the best time for travel. The short dry season in December–January is a secondary option. The long rains from February to May can make roads difficult.

Mwaro town is connected to the national road network. Minibuses connect to Gitega and Bujumbura. Within the province, motorcycle taxis serve the communes.
