Vyanda

Vyanda is a small commune in southern Bururi Province, Burundi, located near the edge of the Bururi Forest Nature Reserve. It is a rural settlement serving as a gateway to the southern section of the forest reserve. The area is a mix of farmland and forest edge at roughly 1,700 m elevation.

Nearest airport is Bujumbura International Airport (BJM IATA), about 100 km north-west.

By Car / Road

Vyanda is accessible by road from Bururi town (about 30 km south). Motorcycle taxi from Bururi costs FBu 4,000–6,000.

Vyanda is small and walkable. Forest trails require a guide.

Vyanda has basic food stalls serving beans, rice, and cassava when the market is active. For longer stays, bring supplies from Bururi town. A simple meal costs FBu 2,000–4,000.

Bottled water and soft drinks are available. Water purification is recommended for extended stays near the forest.

Vyanda has no hotels. The nearest accommodation is in Bururi town (30 km north). Camping in the forest reserve may be possible with advance arrangement.
