Why visit Concepcion?

Concepcion is a small village in the Corozal District of northern Belize, set on the flat lowlands of the country's northern agricultural plain. The community is primarily Mestizo, with a population of a few hundred. Sugar cane farming is the principal economic activity, alongside subsistence agriculture and small-scale livestock rearing.

The village is quiet and residential, with no tourist infrastructure. The surrounding landscape is predominantly agricultural, with vast sugar cane fields and scattered patches of tropical forest. The climate is tropical, with a dry season from February to May and a wet season from June to November. Concepcion lies in the sugar belt of northern Belize, where the cane harvest (December–May) is the most significant annual event.

How do you get there?

By Train

There is no railway service in Belize.

By Car / Road

Concepcion is accessible via feeder roads in the Corozal District. From Corozal Town, the village is roughly 30 km south-west, taking approximately 35–45 minutes. Roads are a mix of paved and unpaved. No regular bus service.

The village is small and walkable. No local transport.

There is no accommodation in the village. Visitors can stay in either Corozal Town (35–45 minutes north-east) or Orange Walk Town (20–30 minutes south-west). Both towns offer budget guesthouses from BZ$80–120 per night and mid-range hotels from BZ$150–250 per night.

Small village shops sell basic provisions. No other retail.
