Galali
Al Muḩarraq, Bahrain
Why visit Galali?
Galali (also spelled Jalali or Galali) is a traditional village on the northeast coast of Muharraq Island in the Al Muḩarraq Governorate. Located at the eastern extremity of the island, Galali retains the character of a quiet fishing community, with a slower pace of life that contrasts sharply with the urban energy of Manama across the water. The village is primarily residential, with a small fishing harbour, local mosque, and a close-knit community atmosphere.
Galali's main appeal lies in its authenticity and coastal setting. It is not a tourist destination in the conventional sense — there are no major attractions, hotels, or restaurants aimed at visitors — but it offers a genuine glimpse into traditional Bahraini village life. The coastline here is relatively undeveloped, and the views across the Gulf are open and uninterrupted. The best time to visit is during the cooler months from November to March.

By Plane
Bahrain International Airport (BAH IATA) is approximately 12 km southwest of Galali, about a 20-minute drive via the Muharraq eastern coastal road. A taxi from the airport costs around BD 6–8.
By Car / Road
Galali is accessible via the coastal road that runs along the eastern side of Muharraq Island. From Muharraq city, it is about a 15-minute drive north. From Manama, the drive takes about 25 minutes via the Sheikh Isa Bin Salman Causeway and through Muharraq. Bus services from Manama and Muharraq reach Galali, though frequencies may be limited; check the Bahrain Public Transport website for current schedules.
Galali is small and walkable. The village can be crossed on foot in about 15 minutes. For exploring beyond Galali — to Muharraq city, the Amwaj Islands, or Manama — a car or taxi is necessary. Taxis and ride-hailing apps are available but may take time to arrive from Muharraq city.
