Why visit Kirchberg in Tirol?

Kirchberg in Tirol is a village of 5,200 residents in the Brixental Valley, 5 km east of Kitzbühel. It sits at 837 m elevation on the northern edge of the Kitzbühel Alps, with the Gaisberg (1,775 m) rising directly above the town centre. Kirchberg offers a quieter, more affordable alternative to glitzy Kitzbühel while sharing access to the massive Kitzbühel ski area (Brixental – Kitzbühel – Pass Thurn) with 233 km of slopes.

The village has a long history as an Alpine farming settlement, but tourism has been the mainstay since the mid-20th century. Kirchberg is popular with families and intermediates; the Brixental valley slopes are gentle and extensive, and the village has retained a traditional Tyrolean character around its main square and onion-domed parish church.
